My memories of Barry ended when we were both about 20 years old. Having gone our separate ways after high school, our paths crossed only a few times after that. I had always known what a great person he was when we were in school in Mt Pleasant, and when I would look through the high school yearbooks on occasion after that, I wondered if he had become the great person that I knew he would be as an adult. Thanks to the memories that others have posted on this site over the last couple of weeks, it is clear that he became an even greater person as an adult. I thank you all for sharing those memories. It has allowed me to re-connect with my memories of him, and I will be forever grateful to you all for that. Thanks, again! Dan Tompkins

I learned to play golf in the Krueger's yard in Mt Pleasant, hitting plastic golf balls between trees, clotheline poles, or other fixed objects that were the "holes". The toughest shot was hitting over the house from the front to back yard!
Later, as a freshman in high school, Barry sold me his full set of irons when he upgraded. It was from JC Penney, the store that his Dad managed in town. I used those clubs for 10 years until the club heads started flying off and going farther than my shots.
Unless I am able to meet Tiger someday, Barry will always be the greatest golfer I have ever met!
Rest in peace, friend!
